Offered for sale is a quality loblolly pine plantation planted in the early 1980’s and thinned in 2008. This timber is located 7.1 miles west of Clayton and 5.4 miles east of Garner in Wake County, North Carolina. Access is via a farm path located on the south side of Rock Quarry Road, 125 feet west of Whitfield Road. Look for the pink flagging and/or timber sale signs along the road.
The primary sale contains 34.9 acres and is to be clear-cut of all merchantable timber. Within this area, pine sawtimber averages 9,165 board feet per acre and 183 boardfeet per tree. Hardwood sawtimber, mostly Poplar, is minimal. Pine Chip-N-Saw on the property totals over 580 tons or 16 tons per acre. Pine fiber will contribute an additional 13.9 tons per acre, including topwood.
Additionally, there are two stream-side management zones, totaling 4.3 acres, that will be very lightly selectively harvested. Within the SMZs, only the trees marked with an Orange “O” will be selectively harvested.
