Timber Sale for General Utility Company, Inc.
Harnett County, North Carolina
Offered for sale are two second thinning of loblolly pine plantations totaling 87.29 acres. This property is adjacent to NC Hwy 27, 3.2 miles west Lillington in Harnett County.
The first stand, 63.26 acres in size, was planted in 1985 and received a 5th row thinning in 2001. The second stand, a CRP plantation, was planted in 1989 and received a 5th row thinning in 2003. There is an abundance of trees in both stands and the volume to be harvested is expected to be high.
This selective harvest will utilize the existing corridors from the first thinning and no new corridors will be cut. Working left and right from each corridor, the remaining four rows of trees will be thinned from below, removing the smaller and/or defective trees, to a target basal area of 85-90 square feet. Within the stand, do not thin areas dominated by hardwood.
This is NOT all weather logging and work will not be permitted on wet soil.
Interested buyers should submit unit prices and a tentative start date. Rawlings Consulting Forestry reserves the right to reject any and all offers and may require on-site inspections of previously thinned stands.
