Sold! — Offered for sale is the first thinning of a 25.13 acre, 19-22 year old natural loblolly pine stand. The property is adjacent to Hwy 42, 2.7 miles west of Duncan in Harnett County. This selective harvest will remove every 4th row. The residual rows will be thinned from below, removing the smaller trees, to a target basal area of 80 square feet. If rows cannot be located, use a simulated 4th row thinning by harvesting parallel thinning corridors approximately 10 feet in width on approximate 40 foot centers. Remaining trees will be thinned from below to a target basal area of 80. Within the stand, do not thin areas dominated by hardwood. The property straddles the Vance and Granville County line near the intersection of Hwy 158 and Hwy 158 Business. This selective harvest will remove every 3rd row. Sold! — Offered for sale is an old growth stand of quality hardwood with small interspersed areas of varying aged old field pine for a total of 71.54 acres. The majority of this timber, totaling 61.8 acres, will be clear-cut of all merchantable timber. Additionally, several stream-side management zones will add an additional 9.7 acres. Within the SMZ’s only the trees marked with an Orange “O” will be selectively harvested. Within the primary harvest clear-cut area (61.8 Acres), pine sawtimber averages 2,293 board feet per acre and 65.5 boardfeet per tree. Hardwood sawtimber including poplar, red oak, sweetgum and white oak will contribute an additional 5,035 board feet per acre. There is only a small amount of pine Chip-N-Saw, 257 tons, and pine fiber, 879 tons. However, there is an abundance of hardwood fiber, including topwood, totaling 4,120 tons. The select harvest area includes several streamside management zones. Within these areas, only the trees marked with an Orange “O” are to be harvested.

Sold! — Offered for sale is a first thinning of a 19.54 acre CRP loblolly pine plantation. This plantation was planted on heavily fertilized fields at a fairly close spacing and maintained a survival of greater than 90%. As a result, basal area is now ranging from 240 – 260 with diameters ranging from 5 to 12 inches. As a result, the first thinning will remove only a portion of the trees needing to be removed and will be followed by a second thinning in 3-5 years after the residual trees have had time to strengthen. The CRP portion of the selective harvest will remove every 3rd row. The residual rows will be thinned from below as directed or marked, removing only a few of the lesser valued trees. Offered for sale is an old growth stand of quality pine and mixed hardwood totaling 8.03 acres. The entire area will be clear-cut of all merchantable timber. Absolutely no trees are to be harvested from within the SMZ. Within the primary harvest clear-cut area, pine sawtimber averages 7,478 board feet per acre and 226 boardfeet per tree. Hardwood sawtimber including poplar, red oak, sweetgum and white oak will total an additional 5,216 board feet per acre. Pine Chip-N-Saw over the entire property will total 52 tons, pine fiber 2.4 tons and hardwood fiber 106 tons, all excluding topwood. Absolutely no trees are to be harvested from within the SMZ.

The majority of this timber, totaling 26.11 acres, will be clear-cut of all merchantable timber. The stream-side management zone will add an additional 4.24 acres. Within the SMZ’s only the trees marked with an Orange “O” will be selectively harvested. Within the primary harvest clear-cut area (Stand 1), pine sawtimber averages 9,584 board feet per acre and 416 boardfeet per tree. Hardwood sawtimber including poplar, red oak, sweetgum and white oak will total an additional 4,568 board feet per acre. There is only a small amount of pine Chip-N-Saw on the property totaling 86 tons, pine fiber, totaling 236 tons and hardwood fiber totaling 303 tons; all excluding topwood. The streamside management zones (Stand 4) will be selectively harvested. Within this area, only the trees marked with an Orange “O” are to be harvested.

Offered for sale are 33.9 acres of planted loblolly pine, containing two age classes of which the older dominates the sale area. The entire sale area is to clear-cut of all merchantable timber. There are NO stream-side management zones within the timber sale area. Within the timber sale area, pine sawtimber averages 11,576 board feet per acre and 163 boardfeet per tree. Chip-N-Saw will add an additional 22.5 tons per acre and pine fiber, including topwood, will add 20 tons per acre. There is very little hardwood on this property, the majority of which is fiber. There are NO streamside management zones on this property. However, drainage ditches will need to be kept clean.
