Offered for sale is a 26.9 acre stand of over- mature timber of which 21.97 acres is to be clear-cut, with the remainder of the area within the streamside management zone. Additionally, 10.61 acres of old field pines to be selectively harvested for a total sale area of 37.6 acres.
Within the clear-cut portion of the timber sale area, pine sawtimber averages 6,693 board feet per acre, pine chip-n-saw averages 6.2 tons per acre, and pine fiber averages 9.2 tons per acre. Hardwood sawtimber, consisting of yellow poplar, oak and sweetgum, contributes an additional 1,690 board feet per acre. The northern streamside management zone contains a significant quantity of yellow poplar that may be harvested provided it is done in accordance with Forest Best Management Practices and the Neuse River Rules. The marking of the trees that can be legally and successfully harvested from within the streamside management zone will be the responsibility of the successful buyer.
The selective harvest area contains 10.6 acres of old field pine. Within this area the harvest area will consist of a simulated 4th row thinning by harvesting parallel thinning corridors approximately 10 feet in width on approximate 40 foot centers. Remaining trees thinned from below to a target basal area of 70. The buyer will be responsible for marking this area.
