About the Staff

Senior consulting forester and owner of Rawlings Consulting Forestry, Bradley J. Rawlings has called North Carolina home since 1957 and claims almost-native status. Growing up in west Raleigh, Brad was introduced to forestry in his childhood playground, the undeveloped woodlands of west Raleigh, and through his scouting activities with Troop 357 at Highland Methodist Church where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Formal education was obtained at North Carolina State University where in 1980 he was granted a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the School of Forest Resources. Since then, Brad has become a Registered Forester with the State of North Carolina, a Certified Forester with the Society of American Foresters and has been granted acceptance into the Association of Consulting Foresters. In 1981, he married a real North Carolina native and farm girl, affectionately referred to as the last great cook. After three children, he considers fatherhood a little more challenging than growing trees but, like growing trees, well worth the effort. When not getting paid to play in the woods, Brad enjoys family activities, propagating azaleas, photography, and surf fishing.

Born in a farming community in Perquimans County, North Carolina, Claudia W. Rawlings grew up in the fertile fields of the eastern part of our state. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor of Science in nursing and currently practices as a registered nurse at a day surgery center in west Raleigh. Claudia is an active member of Wendell United Methodist Church, where she sings in the choir, contributes to congregational dinners, and participates in outreach ministries to local shut-ins. When not caring for her three children and the forester, Claudia enjoys cooking, gardening, and reading a good book.

Jacob (Jake) Harley Rawlings has called North Carolina home his entire life. Born April 9, 2006, Jake is the son of Nolan's Last Bullet (Buddy) and Jumpin' Jill Jolly (Jill). As Small Game Inventory Specialist, Jake has proven himself as a team leader and demands the lead position responsible for locating and sampling Colinus virginianus and other selected feathered relatives. Jake has also assumed the additional responsibilities of office security and protection of the ornithologic nourishment stations from bushy-tailed thieves. In his spare time, Jake enjoys pouncing on his feline friends, rambunctious games of frisbee, ball and other activities involving items being thrown through the air.
