All New Publications Library

Wendell, N.C. (March 26, 2010) — In our continued effort to bring knowledge, information and quality services to the forest landowners of North Carolina, we have recently completed a total reorganization and rewrite of our popular publications library. What started out as a small collection of publications placed online for the convenience of our clients has grown to become one of the largest repositories for online forestry information available in North Carolina for both forest landowners and forestry professionals alike. With over 500 publications written by close to 350 authors, the collection consolidates information available from many sources including the U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, N.C. Forest Service, and various Extension services, including our own Forestry Extension at North Carolina State University, into a single location that is categorized by topic, author, series, and publisher. Topics range from tree planting to harvesting and include items such as basic tree identification, forest management, insects and diseases, road construction, preserving water quality and, of course, many of the animals that make our forest a special place.

As part of the reorganization, the entire library has been moved from the confinements of our company website to its own sub-domain, http://library.rawlingsforestry.com/, where it can continue unrestricted growth and provide faster response and downloads times. Throwing out the old, the entire library has been redesigned and coded from the ground up utilizing PHP and SQLite technology and now exceeds a gigabyte in size with 1,886 internal links.

We invite everyone, landowners, professionals, educators, students, those that love our forest and those that wish to learn about our forest, to utilize this resource to learn and improve their stewardship of, what I believe, is our greatest natural resource. You are encouraged and welcomed to disseminate this link as you see fit but, particularly to our educators and others that are striving to improve their knowledge of our forest.

Learn and enjoy!
